16 Animals Like Us Dog Food Review - Grass Fed Beef

Animals Like Us Dog Food Review

It’s great to see brands like Animals Like Us on the supermarket shelves. They give a better and healthier alternative to others on the shelves. Many will see this brand as expensive, but a better way of looking at it is considering why those other brands are so cheap, and that’s mostly because they’re also not that healthy for your dog.

Hi Shane, thanks for the prompt – I’ve now written a review of 4Legs.

As a side note I see 4Legs are “Australian owned and operated”, which is different from “Australian Made”.

  2. Glad you like the food. I formulated the formulations but now retired. Kind regards regards Mark

  3. There are 2 brands not on the list they are
    1. Open Paddock
    2. Petfood Australia (Only on Woolworths Marketplace)

Thanks Keri – I’ve added both to the list.

I expect there’ll be more changes to come with Woolworths pet foods given their takeover of PETstock, and the previous takeover of My Pet Warehouse by PETstock…

  4. Hello! I love this website so much. I’ve come on here this morning as I’ve been hit with some marketing for Animals Like Us, a NZ dog food now being sold in Woolworths. Let us know if it’s any good! I haven’t been to a store to see the ingredients myself, but based on the price, I’m hoping it’s good! Thanks.

Hi Kristy, thanks for the feedback – appreciated!

Animals Like Us, like most NZ pet foods, is pretty good. It’s nice how they offer different mixes of kibble/dried raw to suit different budgets.

I’ll write a review soon – just written it on my notepad.

  5. We buy Open Paddock kangaroo kibble and some of their treat range as well, would be interested to know your opinion! Thanks

  6. Thank you for your reviews on Supermarket dog food. I use Applaws dry and canned food and I am very happy with the product.

  7. Also leaving a positive review for Applaws dog food. Our German Pointer has been on Applaws GF dry food for many years and we’re very happy with the value and quality. We also stock up when the food is on sale. Also feed our cat Applaws GF dry food.

  8. Very happy with open paddock

    • Hi, just stumbled onto your website whilst trying to search for the best and healthiest puppy food for my 7 months old pure AmStaff, found it really informative and am about to look to see what best rated/healthiest/ideal choice for Wesson hopefully they have the good ones at woolies to ad to online orderagain thankyou for existing and deciding to have your knowledge and create a website for people looking for def not cheapest dogfood that’s obvious, but listing and adding info about each one you could think of &name. Need to go finish 2 sons‍‍ Wessons online shopping order just needed to study up and try find ideal and a little less impossible to afford food for our BOyy,, but seen you really appreciate people please feedback so this is my feedback sorry not much help but when I start Wesson on new food I’ve started him on changing from optimum (cause of I assumed most expensive possibly the best one) but no so thanks to your site info & recommendation, I shall update with feedback post, it can be the post change, feedback post ‍♀️ anyway thankyou for site have a lovely afternoon

  9. We started using the Applaws dry food as the base food for our two Australian Cattle Dogs, one puppy and one older dog, around 4 years or so ago after seeing one of your reviews on facebook. It appealed to us primarily because you described it at the time as being a good mix of value and quality and not very far behind the more expensive grain free options. We have been very happy with the Applaws dry food and still use it for our one remaining cattle dog, plus we also use Applaws dry food options for our cat. We buy our Applaws food from Woolworths mainly for convenience, plus Woolworths put it on special every few weeks so we can stock up on it and save $4 to $5 per 2.7kg bag.
