Australian Natural Health is an offering from Australian company Ivory Coat. It’s great to see decent Australian brands emerging, and this one looks really good. Let’s investigate…

This review is for Adult Lamb & Kangaroo. They also offer Turkey & Duck, as well as reduced fat and puppy recipes. All offerings are grain free.

The first thing I noticed about this food was the protein level. At 36% it looks to be the highest protein food available in Australia, and in keeping with top brands like Orijen in the US (read up to see how highly rated they are). I estimate the carbs to be around 28%, making this one of the lowest carb foods available.

The top two ingredients are both meat meals which is great to see, lamb and kangaroo. We often see lamb-based foods contain another meat source as a pure lamb diet over a long term can increase copper toxicity levels. As such we see kangaroo, which is an excellent lean meat readily sourced in Australia.

We find potatoes as the third ingredient, a common occurence in grain free foods as a source of carbs and to bind the kibble. Sweet potatoes would’ve been a slightly more nutritious alternative, but at least there’s no corn, wheat, or soy in the food. Peas are included as anΒ extra source of protein and fibre, and dried lamb and kangaroo to further bulk up the meat content.

It’s great to see ground flaxseed, an excellent source of omega 3 and nutritive fibre. Salmon oil is a good choice for both omega 3 and 6 to maintain a healthy, glossy coat. Common to many high-end foods we find a range of fruits and veggies, vitamins and minerals, to ensure a well-balanced diet. The food uses natural preservatives too which is great to see.

I really find this hard to fault. The ingredients are well considered, making this a high quality meat-based kibble. If you can afford it, then it’s worth feeding.

Where to buy?

Good points…

Astounding meat content.

Bad points…

Not much to mention.Β Some might be put off by the high protein, but they shouldn’t be.
