  • Decent selection of ingredients

Petzyo is a new Australian grain free food using sustainable kangaroo. It’s available to order from their website, and perhaps in months to come we’ll also find it available in retail outlets. They offer raw patties as well which are worth checking out.

The first ingredient is kangaroo meat, a decent locally sourced lean meat which is great for dogs. With this food being a single meat-protein with an absence of grains it should prove a good option for dogs suffering skin allergies or food intollerances.

The second ingredient sweet potato will be prominent in the food, especially given kangaroo is high in moisture and will be reduced during the cooking process. This is one of the better carbohydate ingredients in a dog food, with potato and tapioca becoming much more common as a cheaper alternative. Sweet potato is lower GI than potato as an equivalent.

The next two ingredients are both pulses so I’ll treat them as one – peas and lentils. These have become common in grain free foods as a decent source of carbs, fibre, and protein, plus many essential vitamins and minerals. They’re also a cheaper source of protein than meat ingredients.

We find a range of decent fruit, vegetable, and herb inclusions. It’s niceties like this you won’t find in most cheaper supermarket foods. It’s also nice to see three types of oil included – chicken oil, flaxseed oil, and fish oil – which provide essential omegas and support joint health and well being.

The vitamins and minerals are included using a pack. It would be nice to see individual inclusions which is the case with Meals for Mutts grain free, and in comparison this food has slightly less protein and fat. It’s still a decent food though, and makes our best-rated list.

What makes Petzyo really stand out is their home delivery options. You can choose dry food, raw food (patties), or a mixture of both. They have plans to suit the weight and activity levels of your dog, with three options for the raw patties – Kangaroo, Chicken, and Beef.

If our cat and dog food reviews help, then help us by telling others. The price compare and adverts are our only source of revenue to keep the website running. Thank you 🙂
