SuperVite “Happy Dog” Dog Food Review
With “HAPPY DOG” written in big letters on the front of the bag you’d expect something more than a product with wholegrain cereals and cereal & vegetable by-products being two of the three main ingredients.
I mean, seriously, is your dog grain disposal?
The ingredients of SuperVite screams budget, and in my opinion wouldn’t lead to a “happy dog”. Based on canine nutrition 101.

SuperVite Happy Dog review
SuperVite Happy Dog is made by Hypro who used to make Meals for Mutts, but don’t go thinking this is as good. It’s targeted at dog owners who either don’t care what they feed their dog, or can’t afford to feed it anything decent (which is sadly the case for many).
Question is, are you getting what you pay for when your dog’s health may suffer in the long term?
Nope, probably not.
The second ingredient is “Real Meat” & Meat By-Products derived from whatever can be sourced cheaply at the time of manufacture. It always amuses me when they use the word “Real”. As opposed to what? “Fake” meat?
16% protein is appalling, and 8% fat isn’t great either. That leaves you with a high carbohydrate kibble, and if your dog doesn’t burn off all those carbs they’ll very likely get fat (and unhealthy).
There isn’t really anything good to say about this food other than it’s cheap. Would I feed it to my dog? Definitely not.

I purchased this food for my dog because nothing else was available, within hours of him eating it he became very lethargic, vomiting and really not himself. Not actually clicking as to what could be wrong as he normally has a “cast iron gut”…..second day after feeding same again, the whole bag bar 2 cups are now in the bin. It’s disgusting that products like these are sold. My babys health is more important than a cheap price tag. I’ll be sourcing food online from now on

Supervite Gold. 2 dogs both got the shits and weren’t the same for days. Wouldn’t recommend this food ever.
This crappy dog food is now $60 a bag. It’s increased by $20 in 12 months. They must be making mega profits
I thought my dog was ill because for the first time in 8 years he failed to eat half of his dinner! 3 nights in a row! He is normally a doggy dustbin and will eat just about anything (not keen on lettuce, tomato or bananas) From sh*t to shoes!
He was not keen on the taste of ‘Happy dry dog food’ at all.
My daughter had a similar issue with her 3 dogs. One of which would not even eat any of this dry dog food.
I would not recommend this dry dog food (Happy!) and does would my dog!
What do you think about their “gold label” line of dog foods?
These seem to have more meat and meat by products although definitely still cheap

This morning a member of a local group from Northam WA shared her story about her dog getting sick after eating this. She doesn’t normally feed much Kibble.. guess she has learned some.
In the post there are several others claiming the same.
I would not recommend this product to anyone.. its rubbish, I mean you just have to look at the ingredients and on their site it reads “Infused with meat for muscles”.. what IS this, its a new one for me!!
“Natural antioxidants for immune”…. what.. where??
“Developed with natural fibres for digestion”.. WHAT, where??
And look at all those potential mould culprits and artificial nutrients….
This is BAD
PLEASE LEARN HOW TO READ LABELS and feed a raw or lightly cooked balanced diet.
Enquiry about supervite working dog, if its a good healthy dog food for my female german shepherd. Or is there a alternative, which is better, regards Alec
Hi Alec, this review should hopefully answer your question on SuperVite. Some alternatives can be found on the affordable dog food page, but it depends where you shop and what’s available.
so,is pedigree any different or better than these products and why,as I am on a low income.
I purchased 2 20kg bags and both dogs became ill after starting on it. This has never happened with any other food. Symptoms being lethargic and extreme gastro. Stopped the food and a week later tried it on one of our dogs, vomiting stared and gastro and lethargic. Returned one bag but was caught with the other as I had opened it.

SuperVite everyday happy dog yep 100-percent unsure of what kind of dogs you were feeding this to to get this result as my 7 year old purebred border collie not once in 7 years has been sick from any sort of dog food until today it’s only taken her to eat half cup start spewing all over the backyard!!
Do not and I mean do not BUY THIS PRODUCT EVER HONESTLY IF YOU SEEN IT ON THE SHELF SOMEWHERE TELL THE COMPANY TO TAKE THEM OF THE SHELVES AND RETURN TO SENDER!!
