Urban Bully Primo Growth Dog Food Review

Urban Bully sell a range of dog products, as well as Primo Growth dog food. The emphasis is on Bulldogs and similar breeds who are very susceptible to food allergies from grains. This food uses rice which is one of the most hypo-allergenic grains. That’s the main reason this food will help your dog if he (or she) suffers itchy flaky skin or dull coat.

Urban Bully Primo Growth Dog Food Review

The food boasts 28% protein which is better than most, with lamb meal and chicken meal being prominent ingredients. That’s a really good thing as most dog foods labelled with marketing words such as “super premium” use grains (namely corn) or legumes (namely peas) to bulk up the protein instead of meat. Dogs need meat, they’re carnivores more than omnivores.

The fat content of 18% is above average, with this being chicken fat. Dog’s utilise fat for energy, healthy joints, skin and coat, and it’s good to see a named source of fat from chickens instead of ambiguous sources.

There are some nice inclusions in the food with a formula very similar to A La Carte Lamb & Rice (who might be the manufacturer behind this food?).

To offer the food a bit of critique, it would be better to see brown rice instead of white rice, and the vitamins and minerals are in “pack” form which means they’re a premade mix sourced overseas (which is the case with many foods).

Urban Bully Primo Growth Dog Food Review

It’s a decent food with a solid meat and fat content with a reasonable choice of carbs. I estimate the carbohydrates to be 36% which is nice and low.
