Iams products are available everywhere, so you won’t have any trouble finding their foods. They’re a well known brand worldwide, but does that mean they’re good?
The main meat content is chicken and chicken by-products. I prefer to see a decent meat meal in a food, not by-products which are a cheaper, nastier alternative. By-products can include heads, feet, organs, brains… the “yuck factor”.
We find brewers rice as the next ingredient, which is waste from the beer brewing industry. As far as beer manufacturing goes this certainly isn’t their best export, but it’s sold to pet food manufacturers very cheaply so they can bulk up the food and turn a better profit. Corn meal isn’t good either as it’s very hard to digest and gives little nutritional value. So why is it included? Again, it’s cheap, and it packs out the food. Sorghum isn’t great either, it’s starchy.
It’s not the best of foods, and I wouldn’t say it lives up to being “healthy” or “natural” either.
If this has helped you please take the time to share it to other Australian pet owners. Thank you 🙂
Where to buy?
