Fish4Dogs is a limited ingredient range of foods based on fish (clues in the name!). This makes it a good option for dogs with intolerances or allergies.

Let’s take a look…

The first ingredient in all their foods is fish. It’s good to see an animal protein source in the top spot, and for this recipe it’s salmon meal, a protein dense quality inclusion.

In the second spot we see tapioca, an ingredient becoming more and more common in Australian pet foods. It’s used as a source of carbs and a binder to hold the kibble together. It’s high GI and less nutritious than potatoes or sweet potatoes which would be better grain-free selections.

In the third spot we have hydrolysed salmon protein. This will further boost the protein percentage with a quality source. Dried peas in 4th will also add to the protein and despite being a less preferable protein source is a decent ingredient and adds fibre.

Sweet potato is a nice inclusion and it’s great to see salmon oil as an excellent source of omega fats for healthy skin and coat.

Apart from the tapioca this is a decent food. Well worth of adding to a rotation, perhaps alongside a different brand of food not based on tapioca.

If this has helped you please take the time to share it to other Australian pet owners. Thank you 🙂

Good points…

Simple ingredients so a good choice for dogs with allergies or intolerances.

Bad points…

Once cooked will be predominantly potato and peas, but there’s still a decent amount of fish in the food.
